Recount Structure – Tree

For Writing I made a poster showing the structure of a recount which is tree. The four parts of the structure are Tree, Reveal, Event, Ending. The most important parts of a recount is the Reveal and the Events. Reveal needs to have the five Ws which are who, when, what, where, and why. The events need to be in chronological order. The ending is what you enjoyed, what you did well  and what  you need to improve on. My first task was to make a accrostic poem of TREE. I also wrote the three things that need to be in a recount which are time connectives. Past tense and adjectives.

I enjoyed making it look appealing.

What I did well was write what the five Ws are in the recount.

I need to improve on adding the information.

Term 3 review

In LS1, this term was full of exciting things like swimming,

Thinking back on the last few months, I’m so happy about how fun and easy the work was this term

I’ve been busy with all sorts of subjects, but the best part about Term 3 for me was the science experiments we got to do every thursday.

When it comes to reading, my favourite text I read was palm oil

I most enjoyed doing a DLO on palm oil in reading.

Writing was super fun, especially when I got to write a procedural

My favourite task in writing this term was fun because of the speech competition

In Maths, I especially enjoyed when we learnt about the written algorithm

because I can finally solve large numbers more easier

For our special Inquiry experiments, I really enjoyed the dancing raisins because we got to see the raisins and the cashews go up and down

In P.E. (Physical Education), I had a blast participating in swimming because I got to learn how to swim and the safety when you are in water.

I learnt how to skull, doggy paddle, diving and many more.

But you know what? I also found some areas where I can get even better. Like in reading the story of the earthquake

While I loved writing, I’ve noticed I need to work on adding more keywords to any of my stories

Maths was interesting, but I want to get better at my division.

In our special projects, I realised I need to work on taking my time

In P.E., I think I could improve, especially in soccer because sometimes I kick sideways instead of straight

Looking forward to the next term, I’m excited about film festival and cross country

To sum it up, this term was awesome and I’m thankful for the work the teachers have given us

Thinking about what I liked and what I can improve helps me understand…

I can’t wait to see what the next term brings, and I’m ready to work on the fun that is going to happen next term

Complex Sentences and Clauses

For writing we learned about complex sentences. To see if you have a complex sentence you need to see if it has a independant clause. An independant clause is a phrase that can stand by itself which means it does not need any more words for it to make sense but if it does not make sense then that means it is called a dependent clause which means it is the additional words to a independant clause.

First I answered some questions. There was a complex sentence and I had to figure out which is the independant clause and which is the dependent clause.

Next I did the same thing but I made my own sentences then labeled which clause was which.

Lastly I made a DLO and played a learning game called Literacy Planet.

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was do the DLO. I need to improve on spelling.

The Vacation Problem

We have been learning how to write recounts using the TREE structure.  We had to chose an image to inspire an imaginative recount.  Here is my work.

Two weeks ago I went on a vacation to an uncanny house in the middle of the   sea. I stayed there for three nights but as soon as I got there I wanted to leave straight away.  It was too late because the ship sailed off and I was trapped here for three nights.

First we grabbed our furniture and stayed at the very top but there was an issue. Our fridge was too hefty to carry so we emptied the fridge by putting our food in a box but there was another problem. Our box was too heavy and my mum got mad so we just threw the groceries into the sea and down went the snacks. My mum called a crane to come and they said yes but it cost 5 billion dollars so we brought it and it took 7 disturbing hours to get here.

Next I sat on the sand eating cooked fish we fished out from the sea. I only got a little bit because we caught a [adjective] sardine. After we ate dinner, I played on my PC but there was another problem. There was no internet so it was a waste of time to bring my PC. My mum called a ship to take us to the shop to buy us [adjective] clothes and a souvenir from the market but the ship was a market. I only brought a turtle necklace because I love turtles. I went back to the hotel and swam in the beach but there was ANOTHER problem. A poisonous octopus sent out so many hungry baby octopi and they were all attached to me so we cooked them as well as the enormous octopus.

Then I went to sleep for the first night but there was still ANOTHER problem. A ship was honking at a dolphin for having a hole in its head so I went outside and yelled. GO AWAY CAUSE I’M TRYING TO SLEEP! So when he left said “I had the worst day of my life”. The next morning I had hermit crabs and they were delicious. I went outside and yelled at the dolphin for having the hole on its head and the guy from last night who got yelled at by me said I CALLED THE POLICE ON YOU. So that’s why I swam 45 miles back home to get my 1 centimeter water gun and swam back  so I can spray him.

I enjoyed eating octopus. I felt sick and started vomiting.

Informal Letter

I learned how to write an informal letter. An informal letter is when you send a casual letter to your friends and family.

First I went in my writing groups and chose five different friends of mine to write a letter to.

Next I wrote five different letters so I know what to say when I am talking to my friends online.

Lastly I checked my spelling mistakes and the things I am missing.

I enjoyed writing my letter. What I did well was writing paragraphs. I need to improve on writing aout one thing.

Formal and Informal Letter

Yesterday we discused on what the things that are in a formal letter. We made a labled diagram to show the things you need in a formal letter.

First we were with a a teacher called Miss White and discused about informal and informal.

Next we went in our grou and high ligjted the things you need in a informal and formal letter.

Lastly we made an labled diagram explaining what the things in a formal and informal is.

I enjoyed making the DLO. What I did well was high light the things needed in a formal and informal letter. I need to improve on my labled diagram.

Commanding Conversation

I did a task called commanding conversation.

First I picked any picture thats in the google slide.

Next I wrote anything of what the picture is saying by using my inference.

Lastly I wrote my name and added more details.

I enjoyed infering the picture. I did well was write the names. I need to improve on writing the story my entertaining.

imaginative recount

We wrote an imaginative recount and used words from our plan.

First we wrote a draft of an recount and wrote the reveal events and ending.

Next we read the plan to see if there were any mistakes.

Then we add some words from our plan so it can make the reader want to see it.

I enjoyed writing the plan becuase it was a zombie apocalypse.what I did well was write the draft because I used some of the words of my plan. What I need to improve on is type fast because I type slow.

Command Conversations

I completed a task called commanding conversations. This task was to look at an image and write the a conversation based on that image.

First I looked at the photo. The photo was 2 motorbikes and one mechanic.

Next I wrote down a conversation about the mechanic and the two bikes.

Then I add the speech marks and then I added the full stops.

I enjoyed this activity because I can write what they are saying.
