Matariki

For inquiry we learned about Matariki with Miss Tele’a.

First my teacher read a story of how the matariki was born.

Next I went and chose what I want. There were nine different choices to choose ancd they were all stars. Each star has a task and you have to choose which one you would like to work on and then complete it.

Lastly I chose Matariki and did the Matariki task.

I enjoyed doing this task because my teacher read the story and it was interesting which made me do my own story. What I did well was write the story. I need to improve on choosing.

Math Problems

For maths we learned about problem solving. I answered the questions on the google slide and it was not easy.

First I answered the questions my teacher made. She put hard answers that was hard to solve but once I fugured it out It felt easy.

Next I went on the mat and my maths broup and my teacher went through the answers together.

Lastly I went of and  did my own questions and let a partner answer them.

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was answer the questions. I need to improve on writing my own questions.

Suspenseful Beginning

Thunder storm crashed through the night carrying a leafy smell that would change the world. A tall robo lifted his head and was running and screaming from the sound. He looked human except for his weird shaped body and his christmassy look.He blinked in surprise. The message had been correct: they were here. Or could I find the way out? He weighed the odds, then said ,”Who are you?  Find the passageway.  “

For writing we learned about suspenseful writing and how we can write a suspenseful beginning by using imagery and dialogue. Suspenseful is like when you watch a movie and at the end of the movie it will say to be contuined which will make people interested in the next movie which will want people to send money on watching new movies.  Suspense is a feeling of excitement or uncertainty about what will happen next.  Imagery means using using descriptive language to create mental pictures or sensory experiences.  Dialogue is a conversation between characters.

I enjoyed doing this task

Visualising

For reading we learned about Visualising. Our task was to write our own visualising writing and a partner has to write what they saw, felt, heard, taste and smelt. Visualising is a phrase or story read to you and you have to imagine what it looks like.

First I chose a partner name Norman and we both agreed that I will write and he will draw so I wrote all about jungles. Here is my story I wrote: It was a misty morning in a mysterious jungle. I felt the sensation of wet leaves rubbing on my skin. I smelt the colourful flower and the salty water at the beach. I heard elephants stomping loudly and monkeys swinging on branches roughly but Ialso felt a slight sense of melancholy getting into my body. I tasted the fresh air and the rain drops from the wet leaves.

Next my partner Norman had to write what he saw, felt, heard, taste and smelt in the story I wrote.

Lastly he made a drawing of the writing I did.

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was write the story. I need to improve on adding more adjectives.

 

Food Safety Article

 

Hello, today I am going to be talking about why it is important to always store your food properly.

If you store your food you need to separate the fruits, vegetables, eggs and the meat because raw meat has campylobacter which is bacteria that is in all kinds of food like under cooked food or raw meat.

Fresh Fruits and Vegetables contain vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals. It can help you against diabetes, cancer and heart disease. If you only eat junk food you start to get huge and your brain is getting less oxygen because when you are getting huge you can’t breathe properly which makes you tired and when you get tired you get lazy. I got this information from Google and it said this, “ Fruits and vegetables contain important vitamins, minerals and plant chemicals. There are many varieties of fruit and vegetables available and many ways to prepare, cook and serve them. A diet high in fruit and vegetables can help protect you against cancer, diabetes and heart disease. It helps keep our brain going and makes us strong. If you only eat junk food you start to get huge and your brain is getting less oxygen because when you are getting huge you can’t breathe properly which makes you tired and when you get tired you get lazy.

Labelling helps us know which food is which. If there’s no label on the food then you don’t know what food it is and when you eat it you might get allergic to some foods because you don’t know. I got this information from guiding stars and It said this, “Labelling is the key to long-term, sustainable organisation. It’s important to label your bins, baskets, shelves, cabinets, etc so you can quickly and easily identify categories to figure out where things are supposed to end up.

Term 2’s Inquiry topic has been about food.  For writing this week we learned about food safety article. I chose three topics and then I researched it on six different websites and they all came up with different ideas.

First I chose three topics. The three topics I chose was Fresh Fruits and Vegetables, Labeling and Organization and Canned Food.

Next I researched about the three topics and put my information into a table.

Lastly I wrote about the three topics but the 4th one was about food storage.

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was pick the three topics I need to improve on researching

My Dragon

For Reading I did one task and it was called My Dragon. I read a story called dragons, dragons, dragons and answered the questions that was in the story, then I made my own dragon using shapes.

First I read a book and it was called dragons, dragons, dragons. It talks about dragons who are all alone and wanted to make friends. There cave was next to a town so they started asking the public but they were all scared. They weer confused of why are they running away until they figured it out. They said they needed to be helpful so they started cooking sausage sizzles for all of the people and thats how they befriend people.

Next I answered some questions. The questions talked about the story, I wrote the story again but in my own words and made it short. I answered the questions and filled in the answers but I made some mistakes.

Lastly I made my own dragon using shapes and wrote what is its name, its age, its special powers and his peronality

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was do the drawing. I need to improve on answering the questions.

 

Basic facts Boxes

For homework I did basic facts boxes.

First I made a copy and change the settings to what I want. I chose times tables in order which is very easy becaause you just add by the number one time.

Next I filled in the boxes. Hasna helped me so it can be faster

Lastly I checked my things and I got all right

HPE

For HPE we learned about Ki0 Rahi. Kio Rahi is a game like touch but you use a circle ball and you don’t lose when you get touch. It is fun because you get to through stuff and run.

First we went to the field and got our tags so when we play we can get our tags ripped. If your tags is ripped once then you have three seconds to pass but if you get both tags ripped then that means its a hand over.

Next I was chosen to be the protecter of the middle. People from the other team have to hit the thing that my team is protecting and if they hit it they score a point.

Lastly I was switched with another team and I had to run and hit the seven poles. If you hit one pole and score it in the middle then that is one point. The more poles you hit the more points you will get.

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was play as the protecter. I need to improve on running

Visualising

For reading we learned about visualising. Visualising is a phrase, sentence or a story that is said and you have to imagine what it looks like, smells like, taste like, sound like and what it feels like. Thos are the five senses to visualise

First I got a book and a pen and write what is smelt, felt, taste, sound and saw in the story. The story was related to willy wonka and charlie and the chocolate factory.

Next I went of and drawd what it looked like on my book which was really fun. I drawed oompa lumpas. candy cane trees. gummy bear bushes and a watery chocolate water fall.

Lastly I drawed the same thing but on my chrome.

I enjoyed doing this task. What I did well was draw on my chrome. I need to imrpove on drawing on paper.

 

Ordering Fractions

For math we learned about ordering fractions. Ordering fractions is when mixed fractions are outside the box and you have to order them like smallest to biggest and it is kind of easy. I was with my partner Hasna who was helping me do this but there was a problem. I don’t know how to write it because my keys on my chrome does not know how to write fractions so I used slash and I finished it.
